Warranty Policy

Last updated: 11 September 2026

We build marine parts from King StarBoard® and similar marine-grade polymer, and we stand behind the way we build them.

What is covered

We warrant our fabrication — the cutting, machining, assembly and finish — against defects in workmanship for one year from delivery. If a part we made fails because of how we made it, we will repair or replace it.

Examples of covered defects: a joint that separates in normal use, a hinge mounted out of true, a latch cut-out that was machined to the wrong size, a panel that delaminates.

What is not covered

  • Normal wear — scratches, scuffs and surface marks from use. Because the colour runs through the sheet, light scratches can usually be sanded out.
  • Improper installation — including over-torqued or incorrectly placed fasteners, or mounting to a surface that flexes.
  • Impact, accident or abuse, including damage from grounding, collision or dropped gear.
  • Modification — parts cut, drilled, heated or chemically treated after delivery.
  • Incorrect dimensions supplied by the customer. If you order a custom part at the wrong size, that is not a fabrication defect. Measure twice.
  • Hardware supplied by others, and third-party latches or hinges beyond their own manufacturer’s warranty.
  • Colour change over time. Marine polymer is UV stabilised, but prolonged sun exposure — particularly in Hawai‘i — can still shift colour slightly. This is normal and not a defect.

About the material

King StarBoard® will not rot, swell or delaminate, and it does not need paint or varnish. It does expand and contract with temperature more than wood or fibreglass. Parts must be installed with that movement allowed for — this is why we recommend slotted or slightly oversized fastener holes on long runs. A part that buckles because it was pinned rigidly at both ends is an installation issue, not a material defect.

Making a claim

  1. Email sales@marinemoore.com with your order number, a description of the fault, and photographs showing the part and how it is installed.
  2. We will assess it and tell you whether it is covered, usually within a few business days.
  3. If it is covered, we will repair or replace the part and cover shipping both ways.

Keep your order confirmation — it is your proof of purchase.

Limits

Our responsibility under this warranty is limited to repairing or replacing the part, or refunding what you paid for it. We are not responsible for consequential losses such as haul-out costs, lost charter days, or labour to remove and refit a part.

This warranty gives you specific legal rights. You may have other rights under the law of your state, which this warranty does not affect.
